Unfortunately, caste-based discrimination and violence are still prevalent in many urban areas, and Scheduled Castes are often at the receiving end of it. They face prejudice and discrimination in various settings, including educational institutions and workplaces, which restrict their opportunities and further their marginalization. Scheduled Caste women, in particular, face multiple forms of discrimination due to their gender and caste, and are vulnerable to violence, including sexual violence, in both public and private spaces. Such incidents often go unpunished, perpetuating the cycle of violence and injustice.
